First Ukrainian Educational Research Association Winter School «European Educational Research Quality Indicators» took place on January 28 - February 2 in Truskavets. The event was part of Jean Monnet Support to Association project under the title «European Quality of Educational Research for Empowering Educators in Ukraine» (№ 587032-EPP-1-2017-1-UA-EPPJMO-SUPPA). The School was organised by Ukrainian Educational Research Association (UERA), and co-organised by Drohobych Ivan Franko State Pedagogical University with the financial support of Erasmus + European Union Programme.
At the opening ceremony at Drohobych Ivan Franko State Pedagogical University, the welcome speeches were held by Prof. Svitlana Shchudlo, UERA President, Prof. Nadiia Skotna, Rector of Drohobych Ivan Franko State Pedagogical University. The participants were greeted by Drohobych Mayor Taras Kuchma, by President of National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences, Academician Vasyl Kremen, by Director of Ukrainian National Erasmus+ Office Svitlana Shytikova .
The school participants represented 26 universities and research institutions from different regions of Ukraine: Kyiv, Uman, Lviv, Drohobych, Kamyanets-Podilskyi, Mariupol, Kharkiv, Chernihiv, Kremenchuh, Sumy.
The trainers who shared their expertise were Prof. Svitlana Shchudlo (Drohobych), Prof. Oksana Zabolotna (Uman), Prof. Serhiy Kurbatov (Kyiv), Prof. Oleksandr Dlugopolskyi (Ternopil), Prof. olena Kovalchuk (Lutsk), Docent Hanna Korsun (Київ), Docent Natalia Horuk (Lviv), Docent Volodymyr Satsyk (Kyiv), Docent Tetiana Lisova (Nizhyn), Docent Liudmyla Zagoruiko (Uman). The invited speaker was President of International Educational Research Foundation, Warsaw University Professor Taras Finikov.
The speakers focused on such important issues as: general overview of European Educational Research Quality Indicators; University Rankings as a Tool for Integration of Ukrainian Academia in the European Higher Education Area, Modern academic writing standards for young scholars: advanced practices of the European universities and publishing companies, Persuasive proposal writing (European dimension), European University Autonomy and Research, Academic integrity: best practices of EU universities for Ukrainian higher schools, Narrative approches in Educational Research, Empirical Methods of Educational Research: Lessons Learnt from Teaching and Learning Survey in Ukraine, Overview and Structure of Databases of International Studies (TIMSS, PIRLS, ICCS, TEDS-M, ICILS, SITES, PISA, TALIS, PIAAC), International Databases as the Platforms to Present Scientific Achievements.
During the School activities, the participants formed ideas and integrated into the research groups for further work on the preparation of grant applications, writing of scientific articles, the formation of research committees of the Ukrainian Educational Researchers Association.
School participants confirmed their readiness to organize a workshop (training) at their educational establishments, or for a professional community by March 31, 2018, in order to disseminate the obtained knowledge and skills.
Participants had a rich cultural program, in particular, they became acquainted with the historical monuments of Drohobych and Truskavets, visited the Church of St. George (Drohobych, 15th century), and enjoyed the musical program of the well-known ensemble "Dzherelo" of Drohobych Ivan Franko State Pedagogical University.
